Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (game)
Prince of Persia creator wants to bring the series back, but Ubisoft say it’s “on pause” | PCGamesN
The Prince of Persia story begins as the treacherous Vizier has overthrown the Sultan and seized control of the most feared magic ever known, the "Sands of Time". It is said that no army can withstand its corrupting powers. In eight short minutes, the Vizier's bid for limitless power will be complete. Only one soul has the courage and speed to stop him, the Prince. Yet little does the Prince know of the wicked defenses set in place to dash his desperate attempts. The object of the game is to navigate the dungeon to the Vizier's throne room in 8 minutes and stop him from unleashing the Sands of Time! It was also a lot of fun to play the old version.

After the original release on the Apple II, Prince of Persia was ported to a wide range of platforms. The game managed to surprise and captivate the player despite being at first glance, repetitive. This was achieved by interspersing intelligent puzzles and deadly traps all along the path the player-controlled Prince had to take to complete the game—all this packaged in fluid, lifelike motion. Prince of Persia influenced a sub-genre known as the cinematic platformer, which imitated the sprawling non-scrolling levels, fluid animation, and control style. The game is set in ancient Persia.
