Whenever I visit a foreign country, I go to the supermarket. Not only does it help with my vocabulary, and provide a little glimpse of how the locals actually eat, but I invariably find a number of things to stash in my suitcase which are better souvenirs than t-shirts and refrigerator magnets. Although someone once gave me a set of wooden refrigerator magnets depicting French foods, like tubes of Dijon mustard and canisters of grey salt, that I kinda love. There are three within a 2-block radius of my apartment in Paris, not including the ones that are at my outdoor market.
Honey Soy Asian Marinade
Top Round Steak deliciously marinated in soy sauce, lemon juice, honey, garlic, ginger and lemon peel. Conceived by rancher and blogger, Cassidy Johnston, this down-home pasta dish is full of flavor and chock-full of spring vegetables. The most tender of them all, the Filet, is served beside a salad of faro, kale, dried cranberries and almonds.
Do you love Japanese Steakhouse Ginger Dressing? When Carrian and I were first married we loved heading to a favorite Japanese Steakhouse with our friends and there was this really yummy Ginger Dressing served over a very simple, crisp ice burg lettuce salad and all of us loved starting our meal with it. Sometimes simple really is best. The other day we were chatting about how long ago that all seems and we decided to recreate the dressing. No slaving in the kitchen or last minute realizing dinner is in 30 minutes and you have nothing prepared.
